Early orthodontic treatment
To encourage proper eruption and arrangement of permanent teeth, we may recommend wearing special comfortable orthodontic appliances as early as primary dentition. Sometimes with early detection and treatment, especially in cases with some harmful habits, braces may not even be needed at a later stage. Proper alignment of the first permanent teeth can help to properly align the remaining teeth when they erupt.
As an Invisalign provider, we offer the Invisalign First treatment, which helps children from the age of around 7 to 10 (some special conditions apply) to establish a good bite and beautiful smile with clear aligners.
First visit to the orthodontist
Perhaps the best time for a child to visit an orthodontist is between 7 and 9 years of age. At this early age, enough permanent teeth have erupted to detect common bite problems. Such an early first phase of treatment aims to allow proper biting and chewing, to correct bad habits and to prevent the occurrence of a more serious subsequent problem.
Dental braces
Braces straighten teeth with the help of brackets, firmly attached to the teeth by a special dental material and move the them slowly in the direction of perfect alignment. We offer both metal and clear (ceramic) braces, and will gladly help you choose the right option for you.
Invisalign
The Invisalign clear or invisible dental aligners straighten your teeth by wearing a series of transparent braces. They are discreet, light and comfortable. They can be removed and make maintaining oral hygiene extremely easy. Made of medical grade plastic material, they are designed to fit perfectly in your mouth.
Depending on your case, a certain number of aligners are made, each of which moves the teeth slowly until the perfect alignment is reached.
Duration of treatment with dental aligners
It is recommended that the aligners be worn for at least 20 hours a day to achieve the desired results. The duration of treatment with clear aligners can last from only 3 months and depends on the complexity of the case, but usually is not longer than it would be with metal braces instead.
Maintenance after orthodontics
Orthodontic check-ups and retainer maintenance (removable or not) are key to long-term predictable results. As an Invisalign provider, we also offer the patented Vivera Retainers.
Maintaining the result is an important part of orthodontic treatment. In this sense, it often lasts long after the appliance is removed. Tissues have memory, and there is a natural tendency to medialize (gather forward) teeth. How to avoid it? We must be just as responsible for our long term maintenance as we were for the treatment itself.
